Paul Kalkbrenner - Platscher

Paul Kalkbrenner is a German based musician from Berlin. Paul Kalkbrenner is, without doubt, the most innovative European electronic artist of the past five years. Even his releases pre-Bpitch Control are outstanding in terms of structure, constraint, and melody. As of 2011, Paul has tallied up more than 15 years of experience as a producer and live act, all the while learning what it means to go purposefully from one step to the next. When the Berlin Wall fell, he was 12. The soundtrack of his youth, and of the majority of his generation, was still in its infancy, awaiting its breakthrough: techno music.

Back in 2008 he starred in the hugely successful German independent movie 'Berlin Calling', a film that tells the tale of the highs and lows of a techno DJ in Berlin. He plays the leading role 'DJ Ikarus' and his own musical productions play throughout the film. His LP, named after the film 'Berlin Calling - The Soundtrack' and contains all of the said tracks from the film. Since then he didn't released so many stuff, but he made a remix for Moby's song 'Wait For Me', a brilliant remix of 'La Mezcla' and his latest work was a remix for one of his brother (Fritz Kalkbrenner) songs, 'Facing The Sun'. The big come back for Paul was a few days ago when he presented his first original production after more than two years! 'Platscher' is a part of 'Werkschau' compilation of Bpitch Control Records with sixteen other former unreleased tracks. Paul gives us an ironic wink as he combines straight, catchy tech-house production with a highly distorted Hammond organ - there’s no such thing as "no can do" here. If you like the track support ir on beatport.
